Opening a shift
Before selling, a cashier must open a shift at the branch they're working. Each cashier has their own shift — shifts are never shared between staff.
Steps
- Go to the Sales page from the left menu.
- If there's no open shift yet, the screen shows "Shift not started" with an Open shift button.
- Click Open shift — the Open shift dialog appears, asking for:
- Opening cash amount (USD) — the actual cash currently in the drawer.
- Opening Riel amount (optional) — if the till also keeps Riel.
- Click Open shift to confirm.
Once the shift is open, the full product list and cart appear on the Sales screen so you can start selling.
Notes
- Each branch + cashier can only have 1 open shift at a time — if one is already open, you'll see "You already have an open shift at this branch." and won't be able to open another.
- If the Open shift button isn't visible, your account doesn't have permission — ask a manager or shop owner to open the shift for you, or to grant the permission.
- The opening cash amount is used to reconcile cash at the end of the day, see Closing a shift & order history.
